Why is Into the Wild written out of Chronological Order?

Into the Wild is a book written by Jon Krakauer.  This book is based on an actual event that took place.  The author Jon Krakauer, did not meet Christopher McCandless which is the main character in this book.  The first chapter explains the last encounter that Christopher had, had with a human being.  Then the book goes on to talk about the discovery of Christophers dead body.  Jon Krakauer wrote a magazine article which arose many fans.  He got many responses from many different readers.  After publishing the magazine article about Christopher, word traveled fast and many that had encountered him while on his journey, responded with their insight.  I believe that Jon Krakauer wrote Into the Wild based on which information that he received first.  He must have heard from Gallien first because the first chapter of the book was based on Galliens encounter with Christopher.  In the first chapter I read, “Gallien recalls…” and that’s when I realized that this book was out of chronological order.  I believe that he put Christophers death as the second chapter so that the reader got the idea that Christopher died before he went on talking about his journey.  I also believe that he put this book out of chronological order so that the reader would have to keep guessing what may happened next.  Jon Krakauer must have also put this book out of chronological order to make it more interesting.  How boring would it be to just read about a man that went into the wild and died?  Yes, his experience was interesting but by giving the book an extra spin, it was ten times more interesting to read!
